Privacy Policy

My Custom Jewish Calendar ("we," "us," or "our") provides tools for creating, saving, and ordering personalized Jewish calendars. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you when you use our website, calendar builder, account features, and ordering services (collectively, the "Service").

Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your first and last name, email address, password credentials in protected form, and information used to verify and manage your account.
• Calendar content. We collect calendar settings, dates, personal events, text, uploaded family or other photos, project names, and generated calendar PDFs that you choose to save to your account. Calendar content may reveal personal or religious information, so please upload only content that you have the right to use.
• Order and fulfillment information. If you order a printed calendar, we collect order details, billing and shipping contact information, product selections, quantity, fulfillment status, and related customer-service records.
• Payment information. Payments may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider. The payment provider collects payment-card details under its own privacy policy. We receive transaction identifiers, payment status, limited payment-method details, and information needed for accounting, refunds, and fraud prevention; we do not intend to store complete card numbers.
• Technical and usage information. We may collect IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, pages or features used, session and security logs, error information, and cookies or similar technologies needed to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the Service, and operate checkout.
• Analytics and advertising information. When you visit the website or use the calendar builder, Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel collect information about your visit, including the pages you view, steps you take in the builder (for example, creating a calendar, adding your first photo, or starting checkout), the website or ad that referred you, browser and device information, IP address, and identifiers stored in cookies. These tools do not receive your calendar photos, personal events, or calendar text.
• Ad and campaign information. If you arrive by clicking one of our ads or a link that includes campaign tags, we store the ad click identifier (such as Google's gclid) and campaign tags (such as utm_source and utm_campaign) in a cookie on our site for up to 90 days, and record them with any order you place so we can tell which ads lead to orders.
• Location searches. If you search for a city or location to calculate calendar times, we process the search terms and selected location. Location queries may be sent to a third-party Jewish calendar or location service to return results.

You may use portions of the calendar builder without an account. Anonymous projects and photos may remain in your browser's local storage unless you choose to sign in and save them to your account, clear your browser data, or remove them.

Google Photos

You can add photos to a calendar from Google Photos. You sign in with Google and choose photos in Google's own photo picker. This section explains exactly how we handle the Google user data involved.

What we access. We request only Google's Photos Picker permission (photospicker.mediaitems.readonly). For each photo you select, we receive the image file (including any information already embedded in it, such as the date it was taken), its file name, and its file type. We cannot see the rest of your library, your albums, photos you did not select, or any other information in your Google account.

How we use it. We use the photos you select only to add them to your calendar project so you can place, crop, preview, and print them. Google gives us a temporary access token, which stays in your browser and is sent to our server only to download the photos you selected; it is never stored or logged. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or use it for any purpose other than providing the calendar features you choose to use.

Who we share it with. Photos you save to your account are stored by our hosting and storage providers on our behalf. If you order a printed calendar, the print file containing your photos is shared with our printing and fulfillment provider so they can print and ship your order. We do not transfer Google user data to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties, or to any service that uses it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, except where required by law.

How we protect it. Photos are transferred over encrypted HTTPS connections. Our server downloads selected photos only from Google's photo host. Photos saved to your account are kept in private storage that is available only through your signed-in account and to the limited staff who prepare your order for printing; we never publish direct links to them.

How long we keep it. Photos you add from Google Photos are kept only as long as the calendar project that uses them. If you are not signed in, they stay in your browser and are never stored on our servers. If you are signed in, they are deleted from our servers as soon as you delete the photo or the calendar project, and a calendar project you have not ordered is deleted automatically, with its photos, after 30 days without changes (we email you a reminder about 24 hours before). If you ask us to close your account, we delete its calendar projects and photos within 30 days. Photos in a calendar you have ordered are kept with that order's records, as described under "Data retention". Backup copies are overwritten within 7 days.

No AI training. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, and we do not send it to third-party AI services.

My Custom Jewish Calendar's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove our access at any time by choosing "Disconnect Google Photos" in the photo dialog, or by visiting your Google Account connections.

How we use information

We use information to provide and improve the Service; create, save, duplicate, and delete calendar projects; generate private PDFs; authenticate users and protect accounts; calculate Jewish dates and times; process payments and refunds; print, ship, and support orders; communicate about accounts and orders; diagnose errors; prevent abuse and fraud; maintain backups; and comply with legal, tax, accounting, and fulfillment obligations. We also use analytics and advertising information to understand how people use the Service and to measure and improve our advertising.

How we share information

We share information only as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, including with:

• hosting, storage, email, security, and technical service providers;
• payment processors such as Stripe;
• printing, fulfillment, and shipping providers, which may include Prodigi, when needed to produce and deliver an order;
• Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads), which receives the analytics and advertising information described above and, when an order is paid, the order number, order value, tax, shipping, and item quantity, linked to the Google Analytics identifier stored in your browser, so we can measure which visits and ads lead to orders;
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram), which receives the analytics and advertising information described above and, when an order is paid or an account is created, the event, order value, and item quantity, together with your email address, name, city, state, postal code, and country in hashed (SHA-256) form, your IP address, browser information, and Meta's cookie identifiers, so Meta can match the purchase or sign-up to its users to measure our advertising;
• professional advisers and authorities when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and the Service; and
• a successor in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service providers receive only the information reasonably needed for their role. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use calendar photos or personal events for targeted advertising.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and related browser storage for sign-in sessions, security, shopping and checkout functions, preferences, and local calendar projects. Blocking these technologies may prevent account, saving, or checkout features from working.

We also use analytics and advertising cookies: Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga), Meta Pixel cookies (such as _fbp and _fbc), and our own mcjc_attribution cookie, which holds ad click and campaign tags for up to 90 days. These help us understand how the Service is used and measure our advertising. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings without affecting sign-in or checkout. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and manage ad personalization in your Google and Meta settings. Google and Meta handle the information they receive under their own privacy policies.

Data retention

We retain account information while your account is active. Calendar projects and their photos are deleted from our servers as soon as you delete the project. A calendar project you have not ordered is deleted automatically, together with its photos and generated PDFs, after 30 days without changes; we email you a reminder about 24 hours before. Projects and photos you keep in your browser without signing in stay on your device and are not stored on our servers. If you ask us to close your account, we delete its calendar projects, photos, and personal events within 30 days. Order, payment, refund, tax, fraud-prevention, and fulfillment records, including the print file for an order you placed, may be retained longer when required for legitimate business or legal purposes. Backups are overwritten within 7 days. The ad and campaign cookie expires after 90 days; the ad and campaign information recorded with an order is kept with that order's records. Google and Meta retain the information they receive according to their own policies and our account settings with them.

Your choices and rights

You may review or update certain account and calendar information, delete calendar projects through available account tools, and request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information. You may also request account closure. Some records may be retained where required for tax, accounting, dispute, refund, fraud-prevention, or fulfillment obligations. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights and the right to appeal a denied request.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls and private storage for saved photos and PDFs. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your password confidential and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create accounts or place orders. Adults who add information or photos concerning children are responsible for having authority to do so. If we learn that we collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

International use

The Service is operated from the United States. If you use it from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
